Network Systems Engineering Corp. (NSEC) has extensive experience developing physical security solutions for the nuclear power industry and will use that knowledge to evaluate the physical security of schools and other educational campuses.
The evaluation will include:
- Campus Perimeter
- Evaluate perimeter physical barriers used to limit access to campus buildings, including access by individuals and vehicles
- Evaluate video surveillance systems used to monitor the campus perimeters
- Evaluate lighting used to provide adequate nighttime monitoring
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the monitoring system to alert campus personnel of any unauthorized attempt to breach the perimeter
- Develop recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the existing security perimeter
- Campus Building Access Points
- Identify all access points and determine if any access point can be eliminated
- Evaluate the effectiveness of all necessary personnel access points to control access to campus buildings
- Evaluate the effectiveness of all necessary vehicle access points to control access to the campus
- Evaluate video surveillance systems used to monitor all necessary campus access points
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the monitoring system to alert campus personnel of any unauthorized attempt to breach any access point
- Develop recommendations to improve the effectiveness of all necessary access points to control access to campus buildings
- Emergency Alarm System
- Evaluate the effectiveness of a campus wide alarm system used to alert staff, students, and visitors of a security emergency
- Evaluate the effectiveness of a duress system used to alert local authorities of a security emergency
- Emergency Action Plan
- Evaluate existing action plans and procedures to be used during a security emergency, including:
- Use of campus wide alarm system
- Use of duress notification to alert local authorities
- Evaluate evacuation plan of affected campus buildings
- Evaluate evacuation actions of campus management personnel
- Evaluate the expected actions of any private security personnel
- Develop recommendations to improve the overall effectiveness of the Emergency Action Plan
- Evaluate existing action plans and procedures to be used during a security emergency, including:
- System Maintenance Plan
- Evaluate the effectiveness of all planned maintenance activities used to maintain all security related equipment
- Develop recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the System Maintenance Plan
- Personnel Training
- Evaluate the effectiveness of planned training activities related to the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan
- Develop recommendations to improve the effectiveness of all planned training activities
